Pages 1-6

Words: Flue-a passage or duct for smoke like aw chimney; We have a flue in our house.

Refracted-Turned from a direct course by refraction; We refracted from the other car that would've killed us.

Stolid-not easily stirred or moved mentally; His mind was very stolid so we couldn't make him cry.

Plot: Today we read about how the firefighters in their time start fires, not put them out. They burned books. I still don't know why though. Then as the main character, Guy Montag, was walking home from his job,( he is a fireman) he met this girl Clarrise McLellan. She is insane. But she also makes him think. So she is cool. I feel that this book is very boring right now, but it might get better.

Other: I learned that this author likes to write poetically. Its hard to understand sometimes but its still is pretty cool.

Pages 6-22


Words: Tallow-the fatty tissue or suet of animals. The tallow of the bear was gigantic.

Lozenge-a small, flavored tablet made from sugar or syrup, often medicated, originally diamond-shaped. Josh swallowed a lozenge for his medication.

Plot: Guy cam home and found out his wife had overdose. So he called the hospital. They sucked out this slimy stuff and replaced her blood with new blood. The next morning she was at the table eating and didn't remember anything that had happened. Her name is Mildred and she works as those people who stand on the side of a filming set and tells the actors what to say. I found out this book took place in the future and that it is a high leveled book, due to the big words and confusing phrases.

Other: This author has a really........... unique mind. It is hard to understand but it is very... thorough.

Pages 22-33

Words: Proboscis-the trunk of an elephant; The proboscis of Dumbo is pretty long.

Capillary-pertaining to or occurring in or as if in a tube of fine bore; I don't know how to use capillary in a sentence.

Plot- Guy was talking about the days that passed when he saw Clarisse. It was about the conversations they had. He started to get annoyed that she knew so much and that she kept mentioning her uncle. She says shes sorry and Guy forgives her. She said she liked to make him angry. These pages were the most boring pages so far in the book. It didn't really talk about much.

Pages 33-45


Words: Proclivities-natural or habitual inclination or tendency; I don't know how to use proclivities in a sentence.

Asylum- (esp. formerly) an institution for the maintenance and care of the mentally ill, orphans, or other persons requiring specialized assistance; There is an asylum on the other side of town that let their patients run around freely.

Plot- In these pages, the firemen get a call. They go to a house and the lady who owns it is standing in front of the door. She tells them the books are upstairs and they go and drench them in kerosene. Then, because the lady wanted to stay there with her books, they let her light the house on fire.

Pages 45-77

Words:

Quibble- An instance of the use of ambiguous, prevaricating, or irrelevant language or arguments to evade a point at issue.

Plot: Montag is sitting in bed and he starts fighting with Mildred. Then he just gives up and falls asleep. he woke up in the night and found Mildred sitting on the bed listening to her show. He asks her if she remembers Clarisse. She says she remembers that the girl died four days ago in the car accident and the family moved out. Montag couldn't believe it. But just goes to sleep. In the morning he finds out that he is sick and cant go to work. His boss came to talk to him about it. his name was Beatty. He tells Montag about how firefighters always get an itch to steal 1 or 2 books and read them. He says that they give the person 24 hours to turn it in or the go to his house and burn it. When he leaves Montag tells Mildred about the book he has. She then starts to go paranoid thinking that they will get caught and that they will lose their house. But Montag convinces her otherwise and tells her to help him read all the books he has. He then took a whole bunch of books out of a vent in the ceiling. They start reading and then it's the end of the 1st "part" of the story. ( The story is divided into 3 LONG parts) We really read alot this time. It was boring at times but there were funny and cool moments, both in the book and in our minds.

Pages 77-89

Plot:Today we started reading part 2 of the book. In the end of part 1 they start to read the books that they stole and Mildred starts complaining. She says that the books say nothing and have nothing important to say. So Montag goes to someone that might understand him a little better. His name is Faber and Montag met him a year before and Faber told him about how he liked books and that he used to be a professor until they closed down the colleges due to people not participating. So Montag goes over there and they talk about the bible and how it is the only one left in that area.

Plot:
Montag tells Faber that he wants Faber to help him with his plan on making new copies of books. But Faber doesn't want to so he jokes around and suggests that they just frame firemen by putting books in their houses and setting off the alarm. Montag thinks he's serious and agrees with the plan. Faber then says that Montag is brave. Montag asks Faber if he knows any proffessors that can help. That's all.

Plot:
It starts off with Montag getting an earpiece two-way microphone. Montag was told to go get something and he did and then he went home. Mildred is having friends pover at the house. Mrs. Phelps, Mrs Bowles, Mrs. Clara were all watching the wall with Mildred. Montag gets home ang gets mad at them for talking about things like they know everything. So he gets a book and reads them a poem. Mrs. Clara starts to cry for some reason I really don't know why but she just does. And then we stopped reading.

Plot: It starts off with Montag going to work. Montag gives Beatty the book and agrees to play poker with them. After a few games Beatty starts talking about a dream he had. He said that he was having an argument with Montag about books. Montag was yelling quotes at Beatty and he was yelling back. Montag started to get nervous. Beatty grabbed his wrisat and felt his pulse going faster. Beatty new he was torturing Montag.

Plot: Beatty asks Montag to join him on a very special case. So they go to burn somewhere. Montag is surprised when they stop and he gets out to see his own house. Mildred put in the alarm and was leaving when he got there. So Montag is told to go burn his own house. So he does. But then Beatty threatens to go to Faber and burn him. Montag gets mad and burns Beatty. Beatty rolls around and dies. And then he kills the robotic hound that finds the people that have books. And thats all we read.

Plot: So after Montag kills Beatty he tries to get up . But the hound bit his leg so he had a big problem. He endured the pain, grabbed the remaining books and ran. He ran to a gas staion to clean himself up. He then ran to Fabers house. Faber turned on a T.V. and it was talking about Montag. It said he was a fugitive and that the hound was out there looking for him. Montag told Faber to get rid of his scent by burning or cleaning what he touched. Montag then left and ran toward the river.

Other: I found out they had hobo camps at that time.

Plot: In this part Montag finally reaches the river. He jumps in and lets the current carry him. He goes on for about an hour and gets out. He decides to walk the rest of the way. Then he almost tripped on something. It was the railroad track. He did what Faber said and followed it. He went until he saw a fire lit in the distance. He then walked to it and there were 5 guys sitting by the fire getting warmed up. They invite Montag to come over and sit with them . Then I stopped reading.

Words: Seance- a meeting in which a spiritualist attempts to communicate with the spirits of the dead.

Cardamom-the aromatic seed capsules of a tropical Asian plant, Elettaria cardamomum, of the ginger family, used as a spice or condiment and in medicine.

Plot: Montag sits down with the guys and they talk about who they are. The hobo's know Montag's name because they had a small portable t.v. and were watching the chase. They told him that they are book burners and readers. They tell Montag to go find some guy in a town called youngstown and to bring him back to the camp.

Plot: We finally finished the book!!!!! It took us a long time. But we did it. So what happens is they start walking down to the city. When they reach their, Montag has a weird vision. He sees Mildred. But shes in a hotel. And the hotel is about to blow up. And when it does... well she dies. Then an attack came. Jets came and bombed the city. Montag and the guys were on the ground screaming when the buildings were falling. When it finished all the guys sat up and started a fire. They cooked up some bacon and then moved on. The End!!!
