Pages 6-22


Words: Tallow-the fatty tissue or suet of animals. The tallow of the bear was gigantic.

Lozenge-a small, flavored tablet made from sugar or syrup, often medicated, originally diamond-shaped. Josh swallowed a lozenge for his medication.

Plot: Guy cam home and found out his wife had overdose. So he called the hospital. They sucked out this slimy stuff and replaced her blood with new blood. The next morning she was at the table eating and didn't remember anything that had happened. Her name is Mildred and she works as those people who stand on the side of a filming set and tells the actors what to say. I found out this book took place in the future and that it is a high leveled book, due to the big words and confusing phrases.

Other: This author has a really........... unique mind. It is hard to understand but it is very... thorough.

Pages 22-33

Words: Proboscis-the trunk of an elephant; The proboscis of Dumbo is pretty long.

Capillary-pertaining to or occurring in or as if in a tube of fine bore; I don't know how to use capillary in a sentence.

Plot- Guy was talking about the days that passed when he saw Clarisse. It was about the conversations they had. He started to get annoyed that she knew so much and that she kept mentioning her uncle. She says shes sorry and Guy forgives her. She said she liked to make him angry. These pages were the most boring pages so far in the book. It didn't really talk about much.

Pages 33-45


Words: Proclivities-natural or habitual inclination or tendency; I don't know how to use proclivities in a sentence.

Asylum- (esp. formerly) an institution for the maintenance and care of the mentally ill, orphans, or other persons requiring specialized assistance; There is an asylum on the other side of town that let their patients run around freely.

Plot- In these pages, the firemen get a call. They go to a house and the lady who owns it is standing in front of the door. She tells them the books are upstairs and they go and drench them in kerosene. Then, because the lady wanted to stay there with her books, they let her light the house on fire.

Pages 45-77

Words:
Pagan- One of a people or community observing a polytheistic religion, as the ancient Romans and Greeks.
Quibble- An instance of the use of ambiguous, prevaricating, or irrelevant language or arguments to evade a point at issue.

Plot: Montag is sitting in bed and he starts fighting with Mildred. Then he just gives up and falls asleep. he woke up in the night and found Mildred sitting on the bed listening to her show. He asks her if she remembers Clarisse. She says she remembers that the girl died four days ago in the car accident and the family moved out. Montag couldn't believe it. But just goes to sleep. In the morning he finds out that he is sick and cant go to work. His boss came to talk to him about it. his name was Beatty. He tells Montag about how firefighters always get an itch to steal 1 or 2 books and read them. He says that they give the person 24 hours to turn it in or the go to his house and burn it. When he leaves Montag tells Mildred about the book he has. She then starts to go paranoid thinking that they will get caught and that they will lose their house. But Montag convinces her otherwise and tells her to help him read all the books he has. He then took a whole bunch of books out of a vent in the ceiling. They start reading and then it's the end of the 1st "part" of the story. ( The story is divided into 3 LONG parts) We really read alot this time. It was boring at times but there were funny and cool moments, both in the book and in our minds.

Pages 77-89

Plot:Today we started reading part 2 of the book. In the end of part 1 they start to read the books that they stole and Mildred starts complaining. She says that the books say nothing and have nothing important to say. So Montag goes to someone that might understand him a little better. His name is Faber and Montag met him a year before and Faber told him about how he liked books and that he used to be a professor until they closed down the colleges due to people not participating. So Montag goes over there and they talk about the bible and how it is the only one left in that area.
